2017 Synthesis, characterization and tribological studies of Chromium-Nano diamond composite coating

Nano composite coatings are a new forms of materials containing hard phase particles to enhance the hardness and wear resistance, among which diamond in terms of feasibility and cost, is the best combination for chromium. In this study, electrolytic coating of pure chromium and Cr-ND (nano diamond) composite coatings were applied on pre-alloy metal powder metallurgy specimens. The effects of the ND particles on tribological behavior of the chromium coatings were investigated. Characterization tests were carried out using an optical microscope, SEM, EDS, XRD and AFM. The dry sliding wear behavior of the specimens was carried out using pin on plate configuration. The hardness and wear resistance of the Cr-ND coated samples were compared with pure chromium coated and non-coated specimens. The results demonstrated that the embedding of the ND particles in the chromium matrix led to a significant improvement on the hardness and wear behavior of the Cr-ND coatings than pure chromium coatings and non-coated specimens.

2018 Analytical Investigation of Maximum Stresses According to the (hkl) Layers at Stable Condition for Al-Sc Alloys

Because Al-Sc alloys are used extensively in the industry due to their many properties, both theoretical and experimental researchers are interested. The importance to these alloys is the physical and chemical properties they exhibit at lower proportions of Sc additives. We also obtained Al-1.1Sc and Al-1.9Sc alloys using a special method. By doing XRD analyzes at room temperature, we reached the conclusion that both alloys crystallized in the same 225 space group and fcc structure. We calculated the second-order elastic constants using the knitting parameters obtained from the EMTO program. In this study, by using XRD test results and theoretical calculation results; (hkl) in the crystal planes defined by Miller indices; peak widths, crystal dimensions, dislocation densities, Young's constants and Maximum Stresses were examined separately. It is seen that the physical parameters (hkl) change according to their planes in the result of the study done. In particular, the maximum stress and Young's modulus were found to be mechanically better for the strength of the Al-1.1Sc alloy.
